Book Week by Anchorage Park satellite class

This year we learnt about birds, we dressed up for the book character parade, and we enjoyed reading with all our friends. Spending time with our mainstream peers was the best, so don’t miss the opportunity to watch our movie. Anchorage Park School and Sommerville, Kia hono being connected!

Our learners at Anchorage Park satellite delved into the annual Book Week event with the theme #Hats off to Reading. This is a time for us to come together with our host school and celebrate our love of Literacy. We immersed ourselves in a myriad of fabulous literacy activities starting off with a Book character parade. A mystery reader visited our class each day to read their favourite book. We were fortunate to have a reading session with the Pakuranga librarians. Then we hosted our mainstream peers at our satellite for shared reading, drama, arts & crafts to create NZ birds from our storybook, and a puppet show. Some of our students also went into other classes to partake in reading activities alongside their mainstream peers. We even launched our very own character drawing competition. It was a great week of fun learning and connecting.
